Campus Life :: Naming Opportunities

The residence halls of Fletcher Academy make a lasting impression on many of the young people who walk through their doors. The boys moved into their new dormitory in 1968 - Nestell Hall; the girls occupied Roughgarden Hall for the first time in 1980. Both of these dorms were a vast improvement from the earlier facilities, but over the decades they have fallen into disrepair.

We are in the midst of a major remodeling of the girls’ dormitory that will produce a better-than-new dorm, including HVAC, remodeled bathrooms between every two dorm rooms, new floor covering for the rooms and the hallways, and new furniture/mattresses for each room. We need $100,000 to match our grant of $270,000 for the $540,000 girls’ dorm project. We are moving ahead with the completion of the project even though we don’t have all of the money. We feel it is critical that the dorms be in good repair for Academy Days in early April and for next school year.

Nestell Hall received considerable renovations a few years ago, including an HVAC system, remodeled bathrooms and some room furniture. To complete the renovations in the boys’ dorm, we need approximately $100,000 for hall and room floor coverings, new furniture/mattresses for the rooms, and new furniture for the lobby/worship rooms. The basement recreation/kitchen/laundry rooms also need updating. We would like to complete this remodeling project this spring, also in time for Academy Days.

Now is your chance to support the improvement projects of the dormitories and leave your mark by adopting a room. The Naming Opportunities program helps to ensure the completion of these remodeling projects in a timely way – before Academy Days.

Gifts of $5,000, payable over the next two years will permanently link the legacy of a donor to one of our 63 resident rooms. Resident Room Naming gifts are tax-deductible and all of the proceeds will be utilized to make both of these dormitories look better than new – by April!

Donors are recognized with a plaque mounted outside the resident room doorway, and a listing of Resident Room contributors will be mounted on the Fletcher Academy Hall of Fame, located in the administration building. Click here to dedicate a room. First come, first awarded – there is only one Room 225 in Roughgarden Hall! If some of you want to name a room for a class (i.e. Class of 1973), a favorite teacher, or a loved one that didn’t attend Fletcher -- this works for us. We can put up to two names on each plaque.
