Mathematics

Pre-Algebra - 1
This course provides the student with a survey of preparatory topics for secondary mathematics including the foundations for Algebra and Geometry. This course is not available to those who have passed Algebra I with a grade of “C” or better.

Practical Math - 1
This course reviews the basic arithmetic functions and then applies them to day-to-day, real-life situations. Areas such as taxes, insurance, investment, and budgeting are standard.

Algebra I - 1
This course provides a foundation for higher mathematics. Topics covered include solving one and two variable equations, factoring, statistics, and the graphing of linear and quadratic functions.

Algebra II – 1
This course continues the students’ study of advanced algebraic concepts including functions, polynomials, rational expressions, complex numbers, systems of equations and inequalities, and matrices. Emphasis is placed on practical applications and modeling. Prerequisite: Algebra I.

Geometry - 1
This course in Euclidean geometry covers definitions, theorems, and postulates with an emphasis on logic and deductive proofs. Prerequisite: Algebra I.

Pre-Calculus - 1
This course is the sequel to Algebra II. It covers the concepts of trigonometry, analytic geometry, advanced algebra topics, sequences and series. Because of limited enrollment, the prospective student must have made a “B” or better in Algebra II or teacher approval.
