About Us :: Campus Conduct/Fundamental Standards

Campus Conduct
Students will receive conduct points for any referrals received throughout the course of the year. The conduct points are a way for administration to track behavior. Any student who receives 100 points or more in a semester will be reviewed by Ad Council and may be asked to withdraw. At the beginning of each semester a student’s cumulative conduct points return to zero.

Conduct Points Chart

  •  Students are to treat school property and the property of others with care. Students will normally be expected to pay for property that they damage. In the case of willful damage, discipline will be administered.
  • The dormitory areas are off limits to the opposite sex except as announced for special occasions.
  • During the hours when classes are in session, students may use the flagpole entrance’s sitting area provided they are not missing classes or work. Students are not to “hang out” in the hall and/or steps of the classroom building except to attend classes since the noise is disruptive to the learning environment.
  • Areas of the campus other than the Dorms, Administration Building, and Cafeteria are off limits to students unless they are required to be there for work, classes or have secured permission from a dean, administration, or a supervisor on duty.
  • Campus sidewalks are for walking purposes only. Bicycles, skateboards, in-line skates, or other means of transportation may not be used on the campus sidewalks.

Fundamental Standards
Students are expected to display respect for duty, order, morality, personal honor, and the rights of others. Any practice or attitude which tends to nullify a Christian atmosphere or defeat the purpose of the school will not be permitted. Whenever, in the judgment of the faculty, a student’s connection with the school is no longer profitable to the student, or should their influence become detrimental to others, they may be dismissed from the school, though no overt act has been committed.

Experience has taught that there are practices which should not be permitted in a school environment. Students engaging in activities such as (but not limited to) any of the following becomes subject to major school discipline or to immediate expulsion from school:

  1. Using, handling, possessing, or furnishing to others tobacco, alcoholic beverages, narcotics, or drug paraphernalia.
  2. Using or possessing dangerous weapons, firearms, or explosives of any kind. This includes (but is not limited to) BB guns, pellet guns, fireworks, knives, etc.
  3. Unauthorized presence in the dormitory of a student of the opposite sex.
  4. Breaking and entering school facilities or another student’s room.
  5. Gambling or the possession of gambling devices.
  6. Using profane or indecent language.
  7. Possessing or displaying obscene literature, pornographic pictures or articles, or materials and games that are occult in nature.
  8. Dishonesty in any form.
  9. Willful destruction of school property.
  10. Tampering with school fire equipment or the fire alarm system.
  11. Undermining the religious ideals and faith held by the Adventist church.
  12. Improper sexual or physical conduct.
  13. Attending places of amusement, which are contrary to Fletcher’s philosophy.
  14. Conspiracy to perform or participate in initiations, hazing, or any other act that may injure, degrade, or disgrace a fellow student.
  15. Defiance or insubordination to any faculty or staff member.
  16. Leaving campus without proper permission.

In order to protect the well-being of each student, the school reserves the right to inspect and/or search a student’s room, locker, or vehicle if and when it is felt reasonable and necessary by the administration. Items identified as not allowed on campus will be confiscated. Only locker locks provided or approved by the school will be authorized.

STUDENTS WHO ARE EXPELLED OR ASKED TO WITHDRAW ARE NOT ALLOWED TO RETURN TO CAMPUS UNTIL AFTER THEIR CLASS GRADUATES OR WITH PRIOR ADMINISTRATIVE APPROVAL. If a student is dismissed late in the year, the school will consider allowing the student to take final exams and to earn a Certificate of Completion if the exams are passed. The exam grade will usually be at least 50% of their final grade.
